David Murillo

My name is David Murillo. I have a BS degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Cornell University and my interests are varied. I have worked on projects ranging from the swarming patterns of insects, the spread of infectious diseases and the treatment of mental disorders. Currently I am working on understanding the impacts of urban growth. In particular, I am interested in the interplay between institutions and ecological processes (topography, economics, etc.). Using both computational and analytical tools, I wish to incorporate the above considerations into a common framework. Then the goal would be to use the framework to accentuate the positive aspects of growth (innovation, art, wealth, etc.) while mitigating the negative burdens (crime, pollution, poverty, loss of biodiversity, etc.). The most relevant computational skills includes experience with the MATLAB programming language and some knowledge of FORTRAN and SAS.
