SIAM Student Chapter

The goal of SIAM is to advance the application of mathematics and computational science to engineering, industry, science, and society as well as promote research and facilitate the exchange of ideas in those areas. The student chapter aims to invite prominent speakers, highlight the research of ASU students in mathematics, engineering and science, and promote mathematics, science, education and diversity at ASU and the surrounding communities.

About the speaker:

Dr. Mac Hyman is the past president of SIAM and the leader of the Mathematical Modeling and Analysis Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He received his BS from Tulane University and his PhD from the Courant Institute of Mathematics Sciences at NYU under Peter Lax. His research interests include the numerical solution of differential equations, mathematical biology and nonlinear dynamical systems. When away from his day job, he is a dancer, plays (at) the piano, and spends as much time as he can skiing off the top of mountains.
