Planning Session with ASU Participants and Cluster

PFMF students are supposed to do three projects next spring. This meeting
was held for students to have the opportunity to meet with participants
from cluster schools and discuss their service project ideas for the participatory
phase of the program.

Suggested Possible Projects
: The followings are some examples of potential projects talked
about.
- Lecture as a guest in the course such
as "History of Philosophy of Mathematics" (ASU West)

Develope interactive structure for class
such as computational module for the course "Introduction to Applied Statistics"
(ASU West)
- Lead small groups with worksheets in
class (ASU West)
- Develope, present and grade class
or supplement meterials such as worksheets, computational module , etc.
(SCC)
- Do a followup study of some group of
SCC students (Cal I, College Algebra) who have transferred to ASU and taken
math there in the following semester. For this project, need to design
questions, interview and analysis.
- Run a workshop in math, computer, or
engeering subjects (SUMS Institute)
- Recrute students (SUMS Institute).
- Develope web-based testing for math
course (ASU).
- Assist or develope MATLAB module for
"Differential Equations" in engineering school which is consistent to MAT274
(ASU).
- Publish a research paper(ASU)
- There might be some possible projects
from Grand Canyon University and NAU, which will be notified later.

plans for projects and write grant proposals to apply by January, 2000.
